Collaboration with artist Jenny Walsh

ACTION POTENTIAL

This was created by Jenny and physical computing specialist Jeremy Keenan, and is housed in the Psychology building at UCL. It is 2m x 1m and the glass "neurons" light up when triggered by someone's approach — each one then triggers activity in the next.

SPIN GLASS

Bulding on Action Potential, Spin Glass is a network of glass neurons, the activation of which is linked to the head direction of the mouse in the video. The network thus displays ring attractor dynamics. First shown at the Cavendish Laboratory SciArt exhibiton, 19-23 March 2018.

SPIN GLASS DYNAMICS

The mouse video is the one shown on the monitor next to Spin Glass — activation of the 16 neurons of Spin Glass is shown on the right (in the actual work, the spatial position of the neurons is random rather than in a ring).
